An enjoyable half hour trip from Sandpoint to Schweitzer Mountain Resort will cover 11 miles of forested hairpin turns and marvelous vistas of Pend Oreille and the lush valley below. At the Resort village you can purchase tickets to ride the Great Escape Chair lift to the top of Schweitzer Peak or you can visit a unique array of stores, restaurants and specialty shops.

Directions: Drive north two miles on Hwy 95 from Sandpoint and turn left on the Schweitzer Cutoff Road. Follow the signs up the mountain on the recently rebuilt, paved road.
