Whichever route you take to Stanley you'll be traveling on a state designated scenic route.  Staley sits alongside the Salmon River and on the north edge of the Staley Basin, a large, high mountain meadow punctuated with open cattle ranches, forest lands and guest lodges.  This area has some of the most scenic vistas in the west, so have your camera ready.  From Stanley Basin you can venture into the Sawtooth Wilderness Area or the Sawtooth National Recreation Area with countless streams and over 300 alpine lakes
