Our launch site is just a short walk from our headquarters. On the river you will enjoy plenty of class II and III rapids, time to soak in the scenery of the Salmon River, and the pleasure of a professional, experienced, and local guide. We always serve a fresh baked snack. Come see why "Starr Bars" are famous among river runners all over the Pacific Northwest.

There are plenty of class II and III rapids and there is no doubt you will enjoy the excitement, scenery, and wildlife of the Salmon River. You will stop for lunch at our exclusive riverside camp. Scenic Float Trips: This is the perfect trip for those who want to sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery of the magnificent Sawtooth Valley. This trip is great for rafters who prefer a quieter ride and is ideal for introducing young children to the river. There is no classified whitewater on this section of the Salmon River, just gently flowing current with a few small splashes and some excellent swimming and fishing. Launch times for this trip are left up to our guests. We will accommodate your schedule as best as we can. Perhaps you're looking for a relaxing evening float watching the sun set behind the incredible Sawtooth Mountains! This is one of our guides favorite things to do!
High Adventure Trips: Are you looking for class IV whitewater? White Otter can provide you with heart pumping excitement all day long! During highwater you can experience the class III-IV rapids on the Upper Main Salmon or the incredible whitewater of the Murtaugh Canyon on the Snake River (Class III-IV+). This is unparalleled excitement for whitewater lovers and thrill seekers alike.
The rivers here usually peak between mid-May and late June. We provide guests on this trip with wetsuits, booties, fleece, waterproof tops, helmets, and of course PFDs. This trip is only for people 14 years or older with a thirst for excitement. Trip availability and launch times depend on current waterflows, level of experience, and weather.
