The Geiser Grand Hotel is proud to continue the tradition of pampering guests that started when the Geiser Grand Hotel first opened in 1889. This award-winning 1889 National Historic Landmark offers authentic charm. Plush decor features crystal chandeliers in every room, an enormous stained glass ceiling, and extensive mahogany millwork. Ten foot tall windows offer breathtaking views of snowcapped mountains and the picturesque historic district from every room. Just completed restoration sets the standard for comfortable elegance, including all the modern amenities. Built in 1889 and renovated in 1997, this majestic stately hotel is undergoing further restorations in 2003.
The casual, original Geiser Grill Saloon and gourmet Geiser Grand Restaurant are open daily.' This classy restaurant is Baker City's finest...few equal it - Fodor's travel claim that 'No finer hotel between Salt Lake City and Seattle'-Sunset Magazine says it all.
Activities in the Baker City area abound. Ski season is highly anticipated with Anthony Lakes sporting a healthy supply of snow for nordic as well as alpine skiers. Races are held here regularly. Other outdoor activities include hiking, biking, fishing, camping, rafting, and the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is a popular draw for out-of-towners. Set in the beauty of the Wallowa Mountains and backdropped by the Eagle Cap Wilderness, this is a destination you won't want to miss.
