Warm Springs, one of the base areas of Bald Mountain, is located about two miles northwest of the downtown Ketchum area. Situated on the northern side of the mountain, Warm Springs offers easy access to the lifts in the winter and a peaceful setting in the summer. In general, the lodging accommodations in Warm Springs are closer to the lifts than in River Run. During the winter Warm Springs offers restaurants and nightlife. Normally during the summer there are not a lot of dining opportunities right in Warm Springs but getting to Ketchum is quite convenient. In the summer season, Warm Springs is normally a little more affordable than any of the other neighborhoods in the Sun Valley area.

The Sun Valley Village is located northeast of downtown Ketchum and is the home of the well known Sun Valley Lodge and Inn. The Village offers several restaurants and a pedestrian village with a good selection of shopping options. Along with the Sun Valley Lodge and Inn, the Sun Valley Village offers seven different condominium complexes. When you rent condos, homes or hotel rooms in the Sun Valley Village, most will have access to the Sun Valley Resort amenities, which include outdoor heated pools, fitness centers, tennis courts, a bowling alley, salon, day spa and the Sun Valley Golf Course. Dollar Mountain is located in the Sun Valley Resort and offers great skiing and snowboarding for beginners.

The bedroom community of Elkhorn is located approximately two miles east of downtown Ketchum and just a little south of the Sun Valley Village. The majority of the lodging properties in Elkhorn consist of condominium complexes and private homes. Most accommodations provide access to either the Harker Center or Elkhorn Village amenities. The Harker Center offers the following amenities: Olympic size outdoor seasonal swimming pool, nine tennis courts, an indoor hot tub, sauna and a grassy lawn area with playground equipment. The amenities offered through Elkhorn Village are as follows: Olympic size outdoor seasonal swimming pool, tennis courts, an outdoor hot tub, sauna and steam room. Elkhorn also hosts the Elkhorn Golf Course and is conveniently located near Dollar Mountain, the ski mountain for beginners located in Sun Valley. Currently there are not any restaurants or shops available in Elkhorn. During the winter, Elkhorn is normally a little more affordable than any of the other neighborhoods in the Sun Valley area. Depending on the location in Elkhorn, it is normally between a two and a half mile to five mile drive to the River Run area of Bald Mountain.

The area surrounding the eastern base of the mountain is referred to as River Run. This area is located about seven to ten blocks from the downtown Ketchum area and offers easy access to restaurants, shopping and the River Run Lifts. Accommodations are not located directly at the base of Bald Mountain and therefore are not considered ski in/ski out. There is a bike path that runs through the area and in the winter when covered with snow offers an easy path from some condos and homes to skate or push themselves over to the base area. The River Run area hosts a wide variety of vacation rentals including condos, homes and a hotel.

Ketchum is the main town in the Sun Valley area. It is located about one and a half miles southwest of the Sun Valley Village. The downtown area consists of many vacation rentals including hotels, condos and homes. There are also over 80 restaurants and a wide variety of shopping opportunities located in Ketchum. The River Run area, one of the base areas to Bald Mountain, is also located in the town area of Ketchum. The River Run area and Bald Mountain are located about seven to ten blocks from downtown Ketchum. This is a broad category that covers any property that is located in the Ketchum or River Run area and is considered to have easy access to downtown Ketchum or the River Run area.

The downtown area of Ketchum is filled with many dining, shopping and cultural experiences. From fine dining to casual, Ketchum offers almost any experience your taste buds desire. An active nightlife is offered in downtown Ketchum including dancing, billiards and quieter bars for catching up. There are a variety of hotels, condos and homes located in the downtown Ketchum area. All lodging accommodations in this category are located within half of a mile radius of the intersection of the Sun Valley Road and Main Street, our best guess for the heart of downtown.

Bald Mountain, commonly referred to as Baldy, offers world class skiing and snowboarding in the town of Ketchum. The mountain is located about one and a half miles from the Sun Valley Village. Bald Mountain offers two base areas, one is located on the eastern side in the River Run area of Ketchum and the other is on the northern side in Warm Springs. In general, the lodging accommodations in Warm Springs are closer to the lifts than in River Run. All lodging properties and vacation rentals in this category are located within approximately a quarter of a mile, by road or ski trail, from the either the River Run or Warm Springs base area of Bald Mountain.

Located on the perimeter of the Sun Valley and Elkhorn Villages, Dollar Mountain is a great option for beginning skiers and snowboarders. The mountain offers easy terrain for learning and an excellent ski school program. Dollar Mountain is perfect for beginners and low intermediates. All lodging properties and vacation rentals in this category are located within approximately a quarter of a mile or less from the base area of Dollar Mountain.

Warm Springs Creek runs along the perimeter of the Warm Springs area between the village and Bald Mountain, from here it basically flows parallel to Warm Springs Road through the Warm Springs Golf Course and to the south where it meets up with the Big Wood River. The lodging properties and vacation rentals in this location are all situated on the banks of Warm Springs Creek and offer rooms, suites or units with views of the river.

The Sun Valley Golf Course is championship eighteen-hole course located in the Sun Valley Village area. Guests staying in properties with Sun Valley Village amenities and members are offered lower greens fees than non-guest/members. All vacation rentals and condominium complexes in this category are located on the greens or fairways and vary in distance from the clubhouse.

The Bigwood Golf Course is a premium nine-hole course located north of Ketchum and west of the Sun Valley Village. All vacation rentals and condominium complexes in this category are located on the greens or fairways and vary in distance from the clubhouse.

The headwaters of the Big Wood River are found just west of Galena Peak. From there the river flows to the southeast and then south into the Sun Valley area. The Big Wood River flows through the River Run area of Ketchum and then south of town through Hailey and on to the Magic Reservoir. The river not only offers a scenic view but is a very popular place to fish for various trout including rainbow, brown and a few brook trout. The lodging properties and vacation rentals in this location are all situated on the banks of the Big Wood River and offer rooms, suites or units with views of the river.

The Elkhorn Golf Course is a private eighteen-hole course located in the Elkhorn Village area. A limited number of tee times are offered to guests that are staying in properties in the Elkhorn Village area. All vacation rentals and condominium complexes in this category are located on the greens or fairways and vary in distance from the clubhouse.

Trail Creek runs through the Sun Valley Village area where it flows into and out of the Sun Valley Lake to the south towards Ketchum, where it skirts the east side of town and joins up with the Big Wood River on the south side of Ketchum. The lodging properties and vacation rentals in this location are all situated on the banks of Trail Creek and offer rooms, suites or units with views of the river.

The Wood River Valley Trail System features over 30 miles of paved trails from Bellevue in the south, to areas well north of Ketchum, and to Sun Valley and Elkhorn to the east. All lodging properties and condominium complexes in this category are located within approximately a quarter of a mile or less of the bike path.

The Weyyakin neighborhood is located east of Elkhorn and south of Ketchum in a convenient area about a mile from the heart of downtown Ketchum. Situated on private cul-de-sacs and surrounded by beautiful green-belt open areas, small streams and ponds, the Weyyakin neighborhood offers a peaceful setting. An outdoor seasonal pool, tennis courts, fitness center and indoor hot tub are all amenities that are offered to homeowners and registered renters. The KART (Ketchum Area Rapid Transit) shuttle does not offer service in the Weyyakin neighborhood.

The Lane Ranch neighborhood is located east of Elkhorn, south of Ketchum and across Elkhorn Road from the Weyyakin neighborhood in a convenient area about a mile and a quarter from the heart of downtown Ketchum. Lane Ranch is a beautiful development with 30 acres of common space, aspen groves, walkways and trout ponds. An outdoor seasonal pool, tennis courts and indoor hot tub are all amenities that are offered to homeowners and registered renters. The KART (Ketchum Area Rapid Transit) shuttle does not offer service in the Lane Ranch neighborhood, however during the summer access to the bikepath is very convenient.
